[NetEase Smart News, August 28th] Kai Ni, who previously served as the head of Smart Driving at LeTV, has announced the establishment of a new company named HoloMatic. This company is primarily focused on developing an L3.5-level autonomous driving production program. It’s worth noting that Kai Ni was recently rumored to have joined NavInfo.
According to data, Kai Ni has worked at Microsoft, Baidu, and LeTV, where he participated in and led several unmanned vehicle projects. The HoloMatic team currently consists of around 30 members and has already secured investment from Bertelsmann China.
Regarding the new company's technology, the L3.5 technology developed by Zhe Duo Technology aims to reduce the frequency of intervention requests compared to L3, thereby providing a user experience closer to fully autonomous (L4). However, their goal is to create a quasi-L4 system while maintaining compatibility with L3 systems in products.
At present, Zhe Duo Technology has established partnerships with automobile manufacturers and suppliers. For instance, they have entered into a strategic collaboration with JAC Automobile’s Italian Design Center on autonomous driving technology. The two parties will work together under the European Union's innovation framework plan, "Horizon 2020," to develop lightweight intelligent electric vehicles that offer future urban transportation solutions.
