The role of the 8-bit DA converter is to transform digital signals from a digital system into records or visual displays on an XY monitor. This circuit uses cost-effective components.

Since the C-MOS DA converter is employed, both positive and negative reference voltages can be input. If an AC signal is applied to the reference voltage input terminal, digital modulation can be achieved.

Circuit Working Principle

IC1 acts as a latch that locks digital data, holding it at the rising edge of the clock signal. The AD7523 is an 8-bit DAC composed of a thin-film ladder resistor and a C-MOS switch, performing multiplication of the reference voltage VE and digital data. Current-to-voltage conversion is carried out by the operational amplifier A1. The output voltage EO is calculated as (digital data / 256) * VE, where the digital data range is a binary number from 0 to 255.
