**Setting Up the Monkey Test Environment**
**First, Install Java Environment**
1. Install JDK-7u60-windows-x64 (Java 1.7.0) or a newer version like Java 1.8.0. The default installation path is usually on the C drive.
2. Set up the Java environment variables:
- Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties."
- Click on "Advanced system settings," then "Environment Variables."
- In the System Variables section, click "New" to create a new variable named `JAVA_HOME`.
- Set its value to the JDK installation directory, such as `C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_60`.
- Then, edit the `Path` variable and add `%JAVA_HOME%\bin;` at the end.
After setting up the environment variables, open the Run window by pressing `Win + R`, type `cmd`, and press Enter. Type `java -version` or just `java` in the command prompt. If the Java version is displayed, the setup was successful.
**Second, Install Android SDK Tools**
1. Download Google Android SDK r24 (or the latest version). Choose a large disk for the installation as the tools can take up significant space.
2. After installation, set up the Android environment variables similarly to Java:
- Create a new system variable named `ANDROID_HOME` with the path to your SDK installation, e.g., `C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk`.
- Add `%ANDROID_HOME%\tools` and `%ANDROID_HOME%\platform-tools` to the `Path` variable.
3. Launch the Android SDK Manager by running `android.bat` or using the command line.
- Select the desired emulator and Android tools to install.
- Note that downloading from Google can be slow due to network restrictions. Two common solutions are:
- Use a proxy tool (e.g., set IP to 127.0.0.1 and port 8580).
- Download an offline package and install it without internet connection.
**Third, Add Android Project in Eclipse**
1. Download and extract Eclipse JEE Luna SR2. Open Eclipse.
2. To add Android Development Tools (ADT), go to **Help > Install New Software**, click **Add**, and select the ADT offline package.
3. Once installed, go to **Window > Preferences > Android** and set the SDK location.
4. Create a new Android project:
- Go to **File > New > Other > Android Application Project**.
- Follow the wizard to configure the project, including the target SDK and application name.
**Fourth, Run Monkey Tests**
To run Monkey tests, ensure your device has enough memory. Use the following command in the terminal:
```
adb shell monkey -p your.package.name -v 5000
```
This will send 5000 random events to your app for testing purposes. Make sure the device is connected via USB and recognized by ADB.
