Android continues to occupy the US smart phone market?

According to foreign media reports, according to market research company Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, in the three months to the end of May, Android has benefited from the cooperation between Apple and T-Mobile, which is still the largest mobile platform on the US smart phone market, but iOS's sales soared by 3.5%, faster than Android.

In other words, the current situation is: Android still holds the ears of the US smartphone market, but Apple iOS is speeding up to catch up with it.

Kantar said on Monday that the Android system’s share of the US smart phone market during the period from March to May this year was 52%, which was basically the same compared with the same period of last year. During the same period, the Apple iOS system's sales share reached 41.9%, an increase of 3.5% year-on-year. Kantar said that at least a significant portion of the growth in iOS system sales has come from Apple’s cooperation with T-Mobile.

Dominic Sunnebo, Kantar Worldpanel ComTech’s director of global consumer insights, stated in the statement: “As expected by the market, T-Mobile began to distribute Apple’s iPhone, which greatly promoted iOS market share in the recent 3 Growth in the month, but this did not affect T-Mobile's share."

Although T-Mobile did not start distributing the iPhone 5 until mid-April, the iPhone 5 has been T-Mobile's best-selling product for the three months to the end of May. T-Mobile also managed to attract many new smartphone users.

Between March and May, of all users who purchased iPhones from T-Mobile, 53% were upgraded from feature phones. In contrast, only 45% of all iPhone users are upgraded from feature phones. The iPhone will also receive many T-Mobile users. According to the survey, of all users who plan to replace mobile phones within the next year, 28% of users indicated that they would choose the iPhone.

Windows Phone still ranks third, its US sales share is 4.6%, which has increased by nearly 1 percentage point over the same period, but it is lower than the sales volume for the three months ending the end of April.
