Electricity consumption in Thailand is estimated to be reduced by 5% in the fourth quarter of 2011

According to reports, the Thai Electricity Authority predicted that due to the impact of an outbreak of floods in the country, the national electricity consumption in the fourth quarter of 2011 will be reduced by 5%, which will reduce the annual electricity consumption by 0.5-1%.

Thai Electric Power Minister Suide said that the factory is a large-scale electricity user, the proportion of up to 50% of the overall. With the floods hitting multiple industrial parks, the electricity consumption of industrial users was reduced by 2,000-3,000 megawatts and the remaining 19,000 megawatts. At present, the electricity consumption of industrial users has begun to rise back to 2,0800 megawatts. For this reason, it is predicted that the national electricity consumption this season will be reduced by 5%.

In the whole year of 2011, the estimated negative growth in electricity consumption was 0.5-1%, while the original estimate was expected to increase by 4% throughout the year. If the factory can quickly resume normal production in the first quarter of 2012, it is expected that electricity consumption will resume growth of 5-6% in 2012. To assist affected people, the Ministry of Energy will stabilize the Ft electricity charges for January-April of 2012, and the power bureau will bear the relevant expenditures. The quota is estimated to be about 7 billion baht.
