Altera and Eutecus release FPGA-based video analysis solutions

Continuing its leading edge in high-definition (HD) video surveillance solutions, Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) released the world ’s first FPGA-based full HD 1080p / (30 frames per second) 30fps video analysis solution, which Adopt Cyclone® IV FPGA. Altera's single-chip solution further improves the performance of video analysis while achieving great throughput (60-Mpixel per second), as well as pixel accuracy details that traditional digital signal processing (DSP) methods cannot. The solution includes Eutecus' multi-core video analysis engine (MVE ™) intellectual property (IP), which performs analysis functions in the FPGA. Because this solution is easily integrated into HD Internet Protocol cameras, it is ideally suited for various applications including traffic monitoring, monitoring accident detection, vehicle counting, road departure detection, stopping vehicles, running red lights, and driving in reverse .

Altera and Eutecus FPGA-based video analysis solutions are the first and only solution that can achieve full HD 1080p / 30fps real-time video processing capabilities. The performance and flexibility of FPGA support it to quickly replace other technologies to achieve these important functions.

Better performance allows users to track dozens of user-defined rules. For example, users can define rules for events they want to detect, configure alarms, and update rules remotely, such as when people enter indoors or in restricted areas of airport terminals, and building entrances. Through the video analysis function, the video can be automatically monitored, and the monitoring user does not need to scan and determine certain events through hours of scanning.

Using Altera's Cyclone IV FPGA, designers can more flexibly perform video analysis and customize their applications through Eutecus' MVE IP. IP combines a large number of parallel algorithms and special coprocessors, and multiple Altera® Nios® II cores are integrated in Cyclone IV FPGAs. It also provides a software GUI that allows designers to customize event detection parameters and rules for their specific applications. Eutecus' IP includes a reliable application programming interface (API) that allows users to link their own video management system or develop their own custom GUI.

With the flexible, high-performance Altera video analysis solution, users can improve system performance while running multiple rules at the same time, which is very beneficial to users.

Altera also provides a single-vendor source model for video analysis solutions. IP and FPGA can be purchased directly from Altera, greatly simplifying the development of video surveillance systems. With this purchase model, users do not need to contact multiple vendors to discuss licensing fees, NRE fees, or copyrights.
Arun Iyengar, vice president of Altera's military, industrial and computer, consumer and storage business, commented: "Using Altera FPGA's unprecedented video processing capabilities combined with Eutecus MVE analysis technology, users can follow multiple rules in real time in various weather conditions. Tracking multiple targets, compared to existing technology, this is a more powerful and flexible solution. Other applications such as automotive driver assistance can also use this solution, including rearview and surround surveillance cameras. Altera is in The one-stop approach on FPGA and IP helps users expand their analytical capabilities more conveniently. "

Eutecus CEO and President Csaba Rekeczky commented: “Altera ’s Cyclone IV FPGA and its Quartus® II software are ideal design environments for Eutecus MVE solutions. Video analytics users can take advantage of Eutecus’ highly modular, flexible and renewable IP products and Altera ’s The performance can be customized with FPGAs to give full play to our company ’s partner advantages.
