I recently repaired a Skyworth LCD TV model 32L01HM, which had been in the shop for a few days. The customer described the issue: "After watching it for an hour or so, there would be sound, but the screen would go black. When I tapped the back of the TV, the image would come back for a while and then disappear again. Could it be a loose cable?" After he left, I placed the TV on the table, connected the AV cable, and everything worked fine. I let the TV run while I did other tasks. After about two hours, there were no issues. Just as I was starting to think it was all in the customer’s head, the TV suddenly went black. There was still sound, but no backlight. I walked over and touched the back of the TV, but it didn’t help. The screen stayed dark. My heart started racing—was the lamp not making good contact?
I removed the back cover and checked the power board first, looking for any signs of poor soldering. Using a magnifying glass, I examined every part carefully. Then I noticed something strange near the cable socket that had several footprints on it. This cable is responsible for sending voltage signals to the motherboard. Was this the problem? I took a closer look and found a ceramic capacitor on the power supply board that looked damaged. I resoldered it and tested the TV again. After running for several hours, there was no black screen anymore.
I called the customer right away and told him we had fixed it. He agreed to the repair and took the TV home that same day. Over the next few days, he didn't call back with any complaints, which meant the fix was successful. This time, I really made the customer feel confident in my work. 😊
