On August 23, Facebook Chief Technology Officer Mike Schroepfer issued an internal announcement that the company’s veteran executive Andrew Bosworth became the new leader in VR/AR and consumer hardware business.
It is understood that Bosworth will be responsible for Facebook Spaces on the VR platform, the Oculus Division, and Aloha, the video chat device that Building 8 is developing. In addition, Mark Rabkin will take over Bosworth’s original advertising platform position.
In an interview with Foreign Media VentureBeat, a Facebook spokesperson said: “We are very happy to make long-term investments in VR, AR, and consumer hardware because we believe these emerging technologies will bring new distances to the world in a whole new way. The leadership of these organizations has established excellent work teams and has brought these teams together to help the company develop more rapidly in the next 10 years of planning."

According to LinkedIn, Bosworth joined Facebook in 2006 and has been responsible for the management of important platforms such as Messenger and News Feed.
