The “Green Energy Industry Forum†sponsored by the Taiwan Green Energy Industry Development Promotion Association recently closed in Taipei. Hundreds of elites in the government, industry, research, and academia from the Japanese Nuclear Disaster Agency are thinking about the status quo and future development of Taiwan's green energy industry, and providing advice for the sustainable development of green energy and the construction of green cities. Wang Yunming, deputy director of the Energy Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan, stated that the government estimates that 25 billion yuan will be invested in five years to promote the establishment of renewable energy conservation and subsidies, leading Taiwan to a low-carbon society.
Liu Wenxiong, chairman of the Green Energy Promotion Association, pointed out that the proportion of nuclear power plants is relatively important in the use of energy in Taiwan. After the nuclear disaster in Fukushima, the people of the world realized that nuclear energy is not an “absolutely safe source of energy.†As for the issue of the storage and abolition of nuclear power plants, it is not as successful as some people claim. And oil is not inexhaustible, so the development of new green renewable energy is a top priority.
Gao Ping, President of Shenzhen Bankai New Energy, pointed out that energy storage has become a key issue for countries under the green industry development trend. Of the Obama administration’s US Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Program (ARRA), 16 of these projects are aimed at energy storage. Obama invested 3.4 billion U.S. dollars last year to build a smart grid to manage energy-consuming appliances such as refrigerators and coolers in people's homes. In the future, investing in energy storage equipment and storage batteries will become the largest industry in 2020.
