Third, test steps:

The suspension is stirred for 1 minute, then left to stand for 7.5 minutes and 30 minutes. The mud sample is poured into the fluid loss meter, ensuring the liquid level is within 13 mm of the top edge. The filter paper is placed, and the filter assembly is prepared.

Timing begins, the pressure relief valve is tightened, the regulator is adjusted, and a pressure of 700 ± 35 kPa is applied within 30 seconds. After 7.5 minutes, the liquid hanging on the drain nozzle is removed, and the filtrate is collected using a dry graduated cylinder. After 30 minutes, the remaining liquid is removed, and the volume of filtrate between 7.5 and 30 minutes is recorded.

Fourth, calculation of results:

The filtration loss is calculated using formula (6): FL = 2·V₂
