It measures the volume of filtrate produced under specific conditions, ensuring precision and consistency in testing.

Testing Procedure:

The suspension is first mixed for one minute, then allowed to stand for 7.5 minutes and 30 minutes. The sample is poured into the filter loss meter, ensuring the liquid level is within 13mm from the top. A filter paper is placed, and the assembly is sealed. Pressure is applied at 700±35kPa within 30 seconds. After 7.5 minutes, any hanging liquid is removed, and the filtrate is collected using a dry graduated cylinder. At 30 minutes, the remaining liquid is removed, and the total filtrate volume between 7.5 and 30 minutes is recorded.

Calculation:

The filtration loss is calculated using the formula FL = 2·V2, where FL represents the filtrate volume after 30 minutes (in ml), and V2 is the measured filtrate volume (in ml).
