Nintendo: Wii’s U.S. installed capacity is leading PS3, XBox

Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo, USA, recently presented the number of installed games for its consoles in the US market when attending the brokerage BMO Capital Markets conference, and clearly pointed out their leading edge.

According to figures provided by Nintendo, DS handhelds and Wii consoles ranks first in the U.S. market with 43.1 million U.S. and 3.40 million U.S. machines respectively; the Xbox 360 ranks third with 21.9 million U.S. machines installed; the fourth is PSP. (17.7 million units), PS3 came last (13.5 million units).

In order to reflect its own advantages, Nintendo also specifically lists the specific installed capacity of Wii and DS leading other game consoles.

Wii: Leading Xbox 360 8.5 million units, leading PSP 12.7 million units, and leading PS3 19.69 million units.

DS: The number of Wii is 12.7 million; the number of leading Xbox 360 is 21.2 million; the number of leading PSPs is 25.4 million; and the number of leading PS3 is 29.96 million.

In addition, Reggie Fils-Aime also disclosed that the Wii Balance Board body weight sensor has sold 12 million units since it was launched in 2008.
