Canada's e-commerce platform Shopify's VR team recently announced the first virtual reality application, Thread Studio.
Thread Studio is a new way of making T-shirts. Users will be sent to a virtual photo studio and can view t-shirt dummy models from different angles. All of this is done in VR. . If you are satisfied with the design of your T-shirt, you can save it in a ready-to-print format and transfer it to Shopify's On-Demand Supplier Printful.
Shopify said that most T-shirt customization software simply superimposes 2D images on T-shirts, while Thread Studio uses true-size 3D T-shirt models. Other items provided by Thread Studio include mugs, hats, and other merchandise. What makes Xiaobian interesting is that users can also take selfie style pictures and adjust the pose and position of the dummy model.
Thread Studio currently supports HTC Vive. They plan to launch support for Oculus Rift in the future, but did not disclose whether the application will land on the Gear VR. Thread Studio is currently available for free on the Steam platform.
