Japan's LED giant Nichia Corp. filed a lawsuit in June 2016 in the High Court of London in the United Kingdom, accusing the UK's largest retail channel, B&Q, of infringing on three LED patents in Japan and requesting damages and injunctions. Nichia previously accused B&Q of selling white LED products, which involved the infringement of the foundation of Japanese YAG phosphor powder technology and improved invention patents, including EU No. 0936682, No. 2197073 and No. 2276080. In the statement, Nichia did not clearly indicate which manufacturer the LED products sold by B&Q were supplied, and only took it with “an Asian manufacturerâ€. Nichia said that although B&Q did not recognize the infringement, it has paid a daily amount as a partial settlement. The actual amount has not been disclosed, and there is no detailed explanation on whether there are other settlement conditions.
