Maxim introduces the MAX16831 high-voltage, high-power, ?a constant current LED driver with built-in analog and PWM dimming. The LED driver integrates a floating LED current sense amplifier with a dimming MOSFET driver to minimize component count and meet the reliability requirements of automotive and general lighting applications with high brightness (HB) LEDs.
The MAX16831 operates from a 5.4V to 76V input voltage range, ensuring compatibility with cold?6 and load dropping (up to 80V), high frequency operation, and wide (1,000:1) dimming Range, built-in analog and PWM control. The LED driver provides ±5% precision LED current control over the entire automotive operating temperature range. The MAX16831 features output overvoltage and overcurrent protection, as well as overtemperature and LED short-circuit protection. Components can operate over the automotive temperature range from minus 40 degrees Celsius to 125 degrees Celsius, in accordance with EU-compliant lead-free specifications, in a 5mm x 5mm, 32-pin TQFN package with an exposed pad.
This component can meet the requirements of automotive headlight design, can be used for high beam and low beam, adaptive adjustment headlight system, daytime running lights and fog lights.
